The KPMG Learning Academy aims to leverage on an extensive amount of subject matter expertise generated from years of experience and hands-on approach of its trainers, in a Big 4 International Audit and Consultancy firm.
It provides diverse educational and training programmes which include ACCA qualifications, Continuous Professional Education seminars in accounting, tax, people management and other areas, postgraduate and undergraduate degrees and industry certifications.
Training is delivered in different formats, from live online sessions, to eLearning modules, classroom and blended training courses. All sessions offered by the Academy can be tailored to the individual needs of a business, while new subject areas can be explored according to the business’ requirements. The Academy works with its clients to design and build effective and practical learning solutions centred on the learner experience.
The premises are located in Floriana and comprise of 8 training rooms as well as a library and canteen facilities. The Academy has its own Learning Management System (LMS) for online learning which can also be made available to businesses as repository of the eLearning content for access by their employees.
KPMG Learning Academy is licensed as a Further and Higher Education Institution (License number: 2017 – 010) by the National Commission for Further and Higher Education.
The session will cover the tax classification and consequent treatment of coins and tokens and the income they generate, as well as their treatment for VAT and duty on documents and transfers. Further, during the session, we will go through the direct and indirect tax treatment of activities such as mining, token issues and exchanges.

Read MoreDr Christian Bonnici has been working in Higher Education since 2008, first as a Research Manager at the University of Malta and subsequently as Head of the KPMG Learning Academy. Dr Bonnici is a warranted accountant by profession and has obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2002 and a Masters equivalent degree in Accountancy (honours) in 2004 from the University of Malta. After working for four years in a Big 4 Audit Firm in Malta and overseas, Dr Bonnici has joined the University of Malta first as finance manager and eventually as Deputy Director and Head of the Project Support Office, a job that has opened the doors for a specialisation in research management in a higher education environment. During the period of engagement at the University of Malta, Dr Bonnici read and completed a doctorate degree in Management, specialising on university research management in European small island states. During this period, Dr Bonnici has published a number of papers in international peer reviewed journals and has presented his work in a number of international conferences in Europe and in the US. Upon joining KPMG, Dr Bonnici’s role became dedicated to heading the KPMG Learning Academy and to further contributing to the higher education sector in Malta, in particular through the provision of ACCA qualification, NCFHE Accredited courses, Continuous Professional Education Training and industry certifications. Dr Bonnici is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta in the Masters in Business Administration course as well as courses offered by the Doctoral School. Dr Bonnici is a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants and holds a practising certificate in auditing.
